Yaidi Cancel Martinez is an associate scientist at the Center. She holds a Ph.D. in urban and regional planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.S. in environmental planning and management from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in environmental engineering from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. Yaidi has extensive work and research experience on national environmental policy and on social and health inequities related to housing quality, instability and discrimination in Wisconsin. She is interested in expanding research at the intersection of urban planning, housing policy and public health. Her current research focuses on rental housing, labor markets, and quality of life indicators. Additional research will examine the costs of unhealthy housing conditions, evictions, and gaps between housing and transportation in the city.
