What is the Participant Registry?
The Participant Registry is a confidential database of individuals who have volunteered to participate in research studies associated with the Center for Aging and Translational Research (CATR). The purpose of the registry is to match potential research participants with research studies in order to conduct research that is meaningful and help promote successful aging in Southern Eastern Wisconsin and beyond.

Why have a Participant Registry?
Registries provide an efficient way to link individuals with research studies. By having the registry, CATR can notify registry participants of studies that may be of interest.

What types of participants are needed?
Participants of all ages, genders, races, ethnic groups, and health status are needed to participate in research studies

Why should I join?
By joining the Participant Registry, you will be provided the opportunity to be informed of research studies for which you may be eligible. It creates a central resource for our scientists to more efficiently recruit research participants. Participation in these studies can help promote successful aging.

What happens once I join?
Once you sign up for the Participant Registry, you will be asked to fill out a short Enrollment Survey, either online or through the mail, which asks a few questions that are commonly used by our scientists to determine if someone is eligible for a study or not. In the future, you may be contacted to participate in research studies from CATR.

Are registry members obligated to be in studies?
No, your participation in studies is always voluntary. By joining the Participant Registry you give us permission to inform you about new studies. You can always decide to participate or not participate in any study.

What are the risks?
Risks are considered minimal. Every possible effort will be made to maintain confidentiality. While the researchers have taken every reasonable step to protect your confidentiality, there is always the possibility of interception or hacking of the data by third parties that is not under the control of the research team. Your participation in this registry and any study is voluntary. You may choose to not answer any of the questions or withdraw from any study at any time without penalty. You can decide if you want to be part of associated studies or not, and you can remove your name from the registry at any time. We will not sell your name or contact information to any agencies or organizations.

If you are eligible for a study, we will contact you on behalf of the scientist conducting the study to inform you about the study. At minimum, you may hear from CATR annually to update your information.
