Updates are made regularly to bring new features, improve user experience, and fix bugs. Such updates do not typically result in downtime.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Additio<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">nally,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Instructure will deploy a set of \u201cReady Releases\u201d to Canvas. To provide more immediate support for instructors teaching online, Ready Releases introduce new and updated features or adjusted user functionality every week. Instructors should warn their students of the need of notifications for a course.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"none\">Limit Submission Attempts by Course\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">This feature allows instructors to limit submission attempts for students.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Previously\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Students could submit to an assignment an unlimited number of times.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">What\u2019s new?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Instructors can choose to limit the number of attempts a student can make for an assignment by using the Attempts menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">How can this affect teaching and learning?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This change gives instructors more control over the structure of their assignments and the stakes of submitting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This feature must be enabled on a course-by-course basis.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-26563-how-do-i-manage-new-features-for-a-course\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Browse to your courses Features tab<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, then enable &#8220;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Assignment Allowed Attempts<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8220;.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"none\">Access\u00a0SpeedGrader\u00a0from the Gradebook Header Menu<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Assignment menus in the Gradebook include a link to\u00a0SpeedGrader.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Previously\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0SpeedGrader\u00a0could only be accessed from a courses assignment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">What\u2019s new?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Instructors can now move directly from the Gradebook to\u00a0SpeedGrader.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">How can this affect teaching and learning?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This change helps graders access\u00a0SpeedGrader\u00a0more easily from the Gradebook.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Partial Scoring for Multiple Answer Questions in New Quizzes\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Note:<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Most instructors should continue using Classic Quizzes.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Limited support is available for New Quizzes.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/canvas\/support-request\/\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Contact CETL and your school\/college support<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0for guidance on when to use New Quizzes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Multiple Answer questions allow instructors to award students partial credit with penalty if a student selects an incorrect response.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Previously\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Multiple answer questions were awarded credit only when all correct answers were selected.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">What\u2019s new?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Multiple Answer questions can now award students partial credit when Multiple Answer questions are auto-graded.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">How can this affect teaching and learning?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This change helps reduce the high-stakes nature of multiple answer questions and awards students points for every correct answer selected (rather than awarding points for a student getting all of the answers correct).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"none\">Addition of a Rubrics Link in Course Navigation\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Rubrics can now be accessed through the Course Navigation Menu.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Previously\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rubrics could be accessed through the Outcomes page.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">What\u2019s new?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rubrics are being removed from the Outcomes page and added to the Course Navigation Menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">How can this affect teaching and learning?<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This change allows course rubrics to be accessed more quickly.
