Podcasting the Past: An Evening with Ben Franklin’s World (Presented by Liz Covart)

Poster for Liz Covart Podcasting the Past eventHistory is often referred to as a “book-based discipline,” but an exciting cohort of audio storytellers is also doing the work of history through podcasting. Join WUWM, Wisconsin’s NPR, and the C21 Sound Inquiry Collaboratory for an evening of audio history with Liz Covart, the host of the widely-popular podcast on the American Revolution, “Ben Franklin’s World.” In a conversation with WUWM “Lake Effect” host Mitch Teich, Covart will discuss how podcasting is helping a new generation of history buffs learn about the Founding Fathers.

Doors will open at 5:30 pm and the discussion will begin at 6:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public, and you can get tickets through WUWM 89.7 FM’s Facebook event.

This event is sponsored by the Center for 21st Century Studies, WUWM 89.7 FM, the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Department of History and Journalism, Advertising, and Media Studies, and the Digital Humanities Lab.

*Covart will also be doing a public workshop on how to run a podcast in the Digital Humanities Lab on Wednesday, May 1 at 2:30pm.
