Book Lecture: Jane Gallop

Feb 1, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Sexuality, Disability, and Aging by Jane Gallop

UWM’s own Jane Gallop gave a special lecture in conjunction with her recently published book Sexuality, Disability, and Aging: Queer Temporalities of the Phallus (Duke, 2019). The talk addressed issues of mid-to-late-life disability and the impacts of disability and aging on sexuality, ultimately arguing for more scholarship at the intersection(s) of queer theory and disability studies.

Jane Gallop is a Distinguished Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the English department at UWM. Her publications include The Deaths of the Author: Reading and Writing in Time (Duke, 2011), Living With His Camera (Duke, 2003), and Anecdotal Theory (Duke, 2002), among others.

There was also a light reception at the Center for 21st Century Studies following the event to celebrate Gallop’s new book and welcome students and faculty back for the Spring 2019 Semester:
