Shel and his wife, Marianne, have shaped the identity and impact of the college through dedication and generosity. Shel\u2019s leadership is deeply woven into the college\u2019s growth and reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/554\/2025\/06\/20250521_Shel-Lubar_96th_500x350.png\" alt=\"Shel Lubar with Joan Nesbit\" class=\"wp-image-17402\" style=\"width:525px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/554\/2025\/06\/20250521_Shel-Lubar_96th_500x350.png 500w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/554\/2025\/06\/20250521_Shel-Lubar_96th_500x350-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Shel Lubar blows out the candles of his 96th birthday cake.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2006, the Lubars made a historic $10 million gift, endowing business student scholarships and professorships. This landmark donation led the Universities of Wisconsin system\u2019s Board of Regents to rename the School of Business Administration as the Sheldon\u202fB.\u202fLubar School of Business, which is housed in Lubar Hall. The name shifted to the Lubar College of Business in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As evidence of their belief in students\u2019 potential, half of their $10 million gift goes to student merit scholarships \u2013 reflecting a deep desire to see Lubar students succeed \u2013 in studies and in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shel has also been actively involved in shaping the direction of the college, serving on the Business Advisory Council for decades. He has elevated the College into a driving force for business leadership and innovation in Milwaukee, the region and state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To celebrate Shel\u2019s 96<sup>th<\/sup> birthday and impact, UWM opened the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/advance\/uwm-honors-sheldon-lubar-with-new-conference-room-and-exhibit\/\">Sheldon\u202fB.\u202fLubar Study &amp; Conference Room in the Golda Meir Library<\/a> in May.
