Lubar Staff Recognized as UWM International Advocates

UWM International Advocates

Five Lubar College of Business employees were recently recognized by UWM’s Center for International Education for being outstanding advocates for international students.

Associate Professor Richard Marcus, Academic Advisors John Huegel and Milena Krstic, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Student Services Alejandra Lopez, and Graduate Programs Coordinator Simone Seidl were honored at the International Advocate Award Ceremony.

UWM’s international students and study abroad participants nominated faculty and staff members who showed them exceptional support and assistance.

“Professor Marcus is my supervisor and also my faculty advisor,” says Sayeda Sharmin Shefa, a master’s student in finance and a teaching assistant for Dr. Marcus’s undergraduate classes. “He has guided my in every step in making the right decisions regarding my education and career choices.  He has also been supportive of my professional career which helped me complete my internship this summer with great achievement. He is a very kind and reasoned person.”

Congratulations to all of our UWM International Advocates for the difference they make in the lives of our international students and those who expand students’ worldview through study abroad!
