Lubar Alumni Chapter Elects New President

The Lubar College of Business Alumni Chapter elected a new president last spring who wants to lead the chapter’s efforts to build alumni engagement and support current Lubar students.

Paige Radke (’15) takes over the term of prior president Kyle Stephens, who has joined the UWM Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is an alumna of the MS in Finance Analysis and Investment Management Certificate programs. Radke currently works as Investment Advisor Representative at Landaas & Company, where she is focused on building long-term client relationships through an individualized, academic approach to money management. She is also involved in fund selection and analysis for the firm.

Radke knows the impact and value of Lubar alumni in the region.

“Talent retention is a real issue here in Wisconsin, despite being a business hub for investments, real estate, and multinational corporations,” she shares. “That said, Lubar College alumni are a bit of an exception, with around 75% of our graduates staying here after graduation. Don’t underestimate the positive economic impact our alumni bring to the state!”

Radke and the board are focusing on expansion of two initiatives: providing alumni with more opportunities to network with each other and building an endowment fund for Lubar student scholarships.

“My former professor Kevin Spellman once told me that it is what you know that lands you a job, but it is who you know that will get you in the door to interview in the first place,” says Radke.  “The Lubar Alumni Chapter knows that our great faculty will take care of the what part of that equation. We are here to help take care of the who.”

The chapter is getting back into gear to offer in-person events in its Business Success Series. These networking events are hosted by alumni who own or are part of successful businesses in the region. In addition to providing an “insider view” of the company, Radke notes, the meet-ups offer ample time to mix and mingle with other alumni and “to continue to build a sense of community.”

Proceeds from these events go to support the Lubar College of Business Alumni Chapter Scholarship Fund, which chapter leadership hopes to endow by the end of 2024. “Establishing this fund as an endowment will ensure that we will have a lasting legacy of support for non-traditional student scholarships in perpetuity.” (Alumni interested in donating may go to UWM’s Make A Gift website and select the designation for “Lubar College of Business Alumni Chapter Scholarship 6965000.”)
