Jerry Patterson, Senior Vice President at Principal Financial Group, and an alumnus of the Lubar School of Business, visited campus recently to provide students with an overview of his company and the role of supply chain management in the industry. He also shared research and practical insights for millennials on how to establish savings disciplines to prepare for a successful retirement.
A financial services company with close to $600 billion in assets under management, Principal recently joined the Supply Chain Management Institute (SCMI), an industry-university partnership that examines supply chain challenges and practices within firms and across a variety of industrial sectors.
Dr. Anthony Ross, SCMI director and Rockwell Automation Endowed Chair in Supply Chain Management, says that although the concept of supply chain management doesn’t naturally come to mind when thinking about financial services, its applications within the industry are significant.
Lubar supply chain management and other UWM students will be visiting the company’s headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, in early March to learn more about the company’s supply chain initiatives, as well as internship and employment opportunities.
