SUMMARY:Webinar: Data Storytelling Masterclass - Turning Data Into Stories
DESCRIPTION:Presenting data can be a daunting task\, often leaving audiences disengaged when presented with a sea of facts and figures. The secret to holding your audience’s attention lies in the timeless art of storytelling\, something that has captivated and inspired humans since the dawn of time. People buy stories\, not data. The key when presenting data\, therefore\, is to turn your data into a compelling story. But how do we combine the worlds of data and storytelling when presenting? \nthink-cell’s new webinar\, the Data Storytelling Masterclass\, has been designed to teach you the guiding principles of data storytelling. You will learn how to turn your data into a compelling narrative and how to simplify and focus your message so that you drive action in every presentation you give. \nDon’t miss your chance to enhance your presentation skills – register now and embark on a journey to captivate\, inform\, and influence like never before!\nThis event is free to all UWM students\, faculty\, and staff! \nSpeaker: Felix Malzfeldt\, think-cell\nFelix\, originally from south Somerset\, has a background as a passionate historian. He studied History at Manchester University\, graduating with both Bachelor and Master degrees. Following his studies\, Felix moved to Berlin to live in a European capital and learn German. Here\, he joined Fat Tire Tours as a historical guide where he learned to love the art of storytelling\, the key to successful guiding. In 2021\, Felix transitioned to think-cell Software\, we he heads its academic program in Europe and runs its training program for students and professors across the world. By leading think-cell’s brand-new seminar\, Data Storytelling Masterclass\, this keeps him engaging in the art of storytelling. \nOops! We could not locate your form.

SUMMARY:Unravelling Bidding Strategies in M&A Transactions: Evidence from the Private Phase of the Deal Process
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Lubar Research Seminar Series \nSpeaker: Audra Boone\, Texas Christian University \nUsing details from the private phase of the takeover process\, we examine how bidding strategies correlate with key takeover outcomes. We find that higher initial offers are followed by fewer bid revisions and an increased likelihood of being the winning bidder. Though there is a positive relation between a higher first offer and the final premium\, bidder returns at the first public announcement of the deal are positively related to the initial bid strength in target-initiated deals. In bidder-initiated transactions\, stronger initial bids correlate with higher combined target and acquirer returns. In a similar vein\, more precise initial bids also increase the likelihood of target acceptance and result in higher acquirer returns in case of auctions\, bidder-initiated and cash-paid transactions. \n
