Chancellor’s Update: August Campus Budget Meeting

August 11, 2015

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

Please plan to attend the Aug. 19 Campus Budget meeting from 2-3 p.m. in the Student Union, Wisconsin Room. This is our 10th meeting in a series to openly share information and to hear from you.

Recognizing that it is summer and many are away from campus, we will livestream the Aug. 19 Campus Budget Meeting: You can submit questions in advance to

Our last meeting on July 16 was very content rich as we shared details of the two-year $72.7 billion state budget signed by Governor Walker last month and its impact on our campus. Our Aug. 19 meeting will offer brief updates and ample time for questions and discussion.

Together with shared governance leaders representing students, faculty and staff, Provost Johannes Britz, Vice Chancellors Robin Van Harpen and Tom Luljak, Chief Legal Counsel Joely Urdan and I will provide the following updates:

  • Brief recap of the 2015-17 biennial budget
  • What has transpired since our July 16 campus budget meeting
  • Updates and inter-relationships of our Budget Planning and Communications Task Forces, Budget Model Working Group, and Chancellor’s Campus Organization & Effectiveness team
  • News from campus governance groups

Please look for a message later this week from Vice Chancellor Robin Van Harpen that will include information about the Budget Model Working Group’s activities. We will continue to provide regular updates and will hold additional campus budget meetings in the future. Details will be shared as soon as they are available.

Best regards,
Mark A. Mone
