{"id":649,"date":"2023-08-10T08:27:51","date_gmt":"2023-08-10T13:27:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/boss\/?page_id=649"},"modified":"2025-02-03T10:02:21","modified_gmt":"2025-02-03T16:02:21","slug":"how-to-use-b-o-s-s-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/boss\/how-to-use-b-o-s-s-2\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Use B.O.S.S. 2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-nbsp-plan-your-transit-options\">1)&nbsp;Plan your transit options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plan your transit options in advance.\u00a0It is\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">highly recommended<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>you make your ride requests at least 30 minutes before closing time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is not uncommon on busy nights for wait times to exceed 30-45 minutes. If you are ever\u00a0under\u00a0a time constraint, we recommend calling well ahead or that you utilize another method of transportation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there is a long wait for B.O.S.S., please consider using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ridemcts.com\/trip-planner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MCTS<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/transportation\/prowllinemap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prowl Line<\/a> if either is an option. Use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Maps<\/a> to input your location and destination, then select the bus icon. This is a great way to discover which MCTS buses you can take and when they will arrive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-use-transloc-app-transloc-web-portal-or-call-414-229-6503\">2) Use TransLoc app, <a href=\"https:\/\/ondemand.transloc.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">TransLoc Web Portal<\/a>, or call <a href=\"tel:1-414-229-6503\">(414) 229-6503<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit a ride through one of the three methods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the TransLoc app from your smartphone (<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.totuit.tapride&amp;hl=en&amp;pli=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Android<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/transloc\/id1280444930\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iOS<\/a>)<br><ul><br><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><br><ul><br><li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/boss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/249\/2023\/08\/TransLoc-Sign-Up-Instructions-Android.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Android Users follow these instructions to submit a ride.<\/a><\/li><br><li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/boss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/249\/2023\/08\/TransLoc-Sign-Up-Instructions-iOS.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iOS Users follow these instructions to submit a ride<\/a>.<\/li><br><\/ul><br><\/li><br><\/ul><br><p><a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/751345023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Watch this video to learn how to use TransLoc OnDemand<\/a><\/p><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <a href=\"http:\/\/ondemand.transloc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TransLoc OnDemand web portal<\/a>. See the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/boss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/249\/2023\/08\/TransLoc-Web-Portal-Instructions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TransLoc OnDemand Web Portal User Guide <\/a>for more information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or Call <a href=\"tel:14142296503\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">414-229-6503 <\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Students&nbsp;looking to ride from the UWM Union should not call in.<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;Instead you should&nbsp;check in at our office located on the ground floor of the union in Room WG25 (next to 8th Note Coffee House). If the Union is closed, you may use TapRide or call <a href=\"tel:414-229-6503\">(414) 229-6503<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-monitor-your-device-for-your-ride-notification-or-watch-for-your-ride-if-you-made-a-request-via-phone\">3) Monitor your device for your ride notification, or watch for your ride if you made a request via phone<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once you place your request, you will be given a wait estimate. Remember that this is a non-guaranteed estimate, and may change depending on the addition of rider requests into the driver&#8217;s queue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If TapRide is used, a notification will be sent to your device once the driver has arrived. Please pay attention to your device or watch for your\u00a0ride\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">from the time it is placed<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0until it arrives. In order to maximize efficiency, your ride\u00a0may show up before your wait estimate is reached.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>B.O.S.S. will not wait more than four\u00a0minutes at your pick up location.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Missing your ride or repeat cancellations may affect your ability to ride for the remainder of the evening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-present-your-panthercard-to-the-driver\">4) Present your PantherCard to the driver<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Since B.O.S.S. is funded solely through student segregated fees as part of their tuition,\u00a0B.O.S.S. can only be utilized by current UWM students who are assessed student segregated fees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current students with a valid UWM PantherCard are allowed to bring 1 guest each. The student is responsible for the guest&#8217;s behavior and well-being while using the service.
