MLS Clinical Tour Information and Sign-Up Forms

Information for clinical tours can be found below by clinical site.

Tours are available only to students that have been accepted in to the UWM Medical Laboratory Sciences program.  For more information, email Brad at bkdepons@uwm.edu

To sign up for a tour, please select a time from the table below in order to access the online sign-up form for that date.  Enter your UWM email, full name, and mark “sign up” prior to submitting the form.  Please sign up for only one date/time per site.  These online forms are set up to only allow a set number of people to sign up per date/time, so if a specific date/time is full you will see “Full” listed in the options, and you will need to choose a different tour.  If you are unable to sign up for another date/time, you will have the option to check “add me to the waiting list” for the tour or tours that you are able to attend, and I will email students on the waiting list if a spot opens up.  Waiting lists are not intended to be used for preferred dates/times, rather only for those who are unable to make it to a different time.  Please use this option only if you are unable to make it to another tour.  If spots become available for a specific tour, students will be invited to join based on the order that they were added to the waiting list, and will only be added if they have not signed up for another tour at that site.  If there is an error and a form lets more students to sign up for a date/time than is allowed, spots will be given to students in the order that they signed up.

Brad has spoken with Dr. Hou about clinical tours, and he is willing to work with students if they are unable to attend a tour due to Hematology lab.  If you are unable to attend a tour due to Hematology lab, please contact Dr. Hou in advance to request to attend the other lab session (Monday/Friday) in order to attend the tour.  This option should only be utilized if you are absolutely unable to attend during your non-lab time.  Most tours have been scheduled on at least one Monday and one Friday to limit the need to switch sections.

It is strongly recommended that students tour as many clinical sites as possible, even if they are not showing strong interest in a particular site.  Seeing different laboratory settings is valuable, and allows students to see all potential sites that they may be placed at.  You may also find interest in a site after meeting the educational coordinator for that site or seeing the location/staff.
