Dr. Mark McBride, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at UW-Milwaukee, will present a talk about his work entitled, “Bacteroidetes do it differently: motility, protein secretion, and polysaccharide utilization.”

The abstract is as follows:

The phylum Bacteroidetes is a large and relatively unexplored group of bacteria. This seminar will summarize more than 30 years of research in the McBride lab that revealed unusual features of these bacteria. Unique machinery and strategies involved in motility, protein secretion, polysaccharide digestion, and disease will be described.

The presentation will take place in Lapham Hall S160 at 4:00 PM, preceded by an informal reception from 3:45 – 4:00 PM.
