What makes UWM’s program special?
UWM’s Atmospheric Science program provides valuable opportunities for students to enhance their educational experience in weather forecasting, research, and communication. We are respected for research excellence and valued for small class sizes. We provide a friendly environment, and an open-door policy for students’ educational development and excellence. Our core curriculum and unique extracurricular opportunities prepare our students for graduate school and employment in all traditional disciplines of the field and related societally-relevant areas such as risk assessment, Big Data, environmental engineering, communications, and emergency management. We maintain close ties with regional and national employers in the private sector and federal and state governments and have excellent computing, research, and teaching facilities.
Innovative Weather

Through paid internships, Innovative Weather gives students hands-on experience in weather forecasting while developing their communication, interpersonal, and computing skills.
Graduates with Innovative Weather experience are highly desired by employers in operational meteorology and related fields.
