The University Community Band (UCB) is a concert band open to community members ages 18+ and students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Musicians under 18 may be accepted by permission of the instructor. There is no formal audition for membership, but previous experience on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument is required. The band performs one concert each semester and the repertoire includes both standard and contemporary band literature. Instruments are required at the first rehearsal.
Rehearsals: Mondays, September 13 – December 6 | 7–9:20 p.m.
Concert: Monday, December 6, 7:30 p.m.
Rehearsals: Mondays, January 31 – May 2 | 7–9:20 p.m.
Concert: Monday, May 2, 7:30 p.m.
To enroll, first-year and transfer students can register through their advisor during the summer New Student Orientation session. Returning students may self-enroll using their PAWS account. Music majors cannot take this in place of their assigned ensemble.
- MUS 30 – undergraduate students (1 credit, non-major)
- MUS 334 – undergraduate students (3 credits, non-major, fulfills GER requirement with additional assignments)
- MUS 730 – graduate students (1 credit)
Community members should register through the School of Continuing Education. Registration is $99 (Osher members pay $89). After September 13 it’s $109.
