The University Community Band (UCB) is a concert band open to community members ages 18+ and students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Musicians under 18 may be accepted by permission of the instructor. There is no formal audition for membership, but previous experience on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument is required. The band performs one concert each semester and the repertoire includes both standard and contemporary band literature. Instruments are required at the first rehearsal. The ensemble is under the supervision of Dr. John Climer, Director of Bands at UW-Milwaukee.

2019 Fall Dates

Rehearsals: Mondays, September 9 – December 2, | 7–9 p.m.
Concert: Saturday, December 7, 2019


Students wishing to receive college credit should register by enrolling in one of the following classes
MUS 30 – undergraduate students
MUS 334 – undergraduate students – fulfills GER requirement
MUS 730 – graduate students
Music majors cannot take this in place of their assigned ensemble

Community members & non-credit students should register through the School of Continuing Ed. (Fee is $99 by Sept. 9, after which it is $109)
