Real Men Sing

Summary of Events

Open to all students in grades seven through 12 who identify as male. No advance preparation necessary. Students will be organized into a middle school or high school choir, and Real Men Sing! will conclude with performances from both ensembles.

Seventh and eighth graders
Directed by Tony Mudra, Director of the UWM Women’s Chorus

Ninth through twelfth graders
Directed by Dr. Zack Durlam, Director of UWM Choral Activities

Enrollment: Limited to the first 800 ninth through twelfth graders and first 350 seventh through eighth graders registered.

The high school portion of our 2019 Real Men Sing! festival is currently full. Middle school directors wishing to register should contact for a link to the registration form. High school directors interested in attending please contact with the name of your school and the approximate number of students you would like to bring; you will be added to our waitlist. Waitlisted schools are often added to the festival as numbers change throughout the summer.

Cost: $60 per school. Schools wishing to bring more than 50 students should contact as additional costs will apply.


Registration is not complete until payment is made. All payments must be received by Sept. 14, 2019.

Schools that have successfully registered can make payments by check, by phone, or in-person at the Box Office. We apologize for the inconvenience, but online payment is currently unavailable.


7:15 a.m.
Check-in & seating: Students should dress professionally and according to their school dress code. No uniform performance attire is required.

8–11:30 a.m.
Warm-ups, rehearsal, director workshops and reading sessions, and performance by the UWM Men’s Choir.

Performances by seventh/eighth-grade students, ninth- through twelfth-grade students and combined choirs.


Schools must provide music for each participating singer. Music can be ordered from Brass Bell Music Store in Glendale, which has the music in stock, and available at a discount.
