The Florida Experimental Film/Video Festival (FLEX Fest) happens a long way from Milwaukee, but the Peck School of the Arts Department of Film, Video, Animation, & New Genres made its presence felt during the festival’s Feb. 6-10 run.
Film MFA candidate Ariel Teal and Film alumna Lisa Danker (MFA ’11) each received a $300 FLEX Jury Cash Award. Teal earned a prize for her work on “Becoming,” described as “a film not about blaming but becoming.” Danker’s “Foreclosed Home” earned the nod for its “censorious use of archival materials relating to the personal history of Florida.” Alumna Nazli Dincel (MFA ’15) was a festival juror. Several other film alumni and film faculty presented at the festival.
The Florida Experimental Film/Video Festival is an annual showcase of experimental, avant-garde, and underground media in Tampa, Florida.
