Kelly Phelps is a Professor at Xavier University (Cincinnati) and Kyle is a Professor at University Dayton (Dayton) where they head the sculpture and ceramic departments. Much of the twins’ ceramics-based work is about the blue collar working-class\, race relations\, and the everyday struggles of the common man and woman. The twins continue to work collaboratively to create their artwork and share a studio in Centerville (OH). \n\n\n\nThroughout the fall and spring semesters\, the Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series welcomes a diverse group of nationally and internationally recognized artists working across traditional\, hybrid and emergent disciplines. DESCRIPTION:Dates\nLocation\n\n\n\n\nApril 23\, 2025 (7:30–9 p.m.)\nVirtual\n\n\n\n\nTanner MacArthur is a painter and mixed-media artist exploring connections between urban disorder\, collage\, and traditional modes of abstraction. He is a 3rd-year MFA candidate at UW-Milwaukee and has exhibited at key midwestern galleries and museums such as the Trout Museum of Art\, Portrait Society Gallery\, Real Tinsel\, and Var Gallery.  \nHoward Leu is an interdisciplinary artist. His current work explores his recollection of growing up as a child of Taiwanese immigrants in the United States. His research examines how photography encapsulates memory and personal narratives within images. Leu is an MFA candidate at UWM and expects to graduate in the spring of 2025. \nThroughout the fall and spring semesters\, the Artists Now! Jill uses the pin as a messaging device to convey ideas\, make statements\, and construct narratives. She runs an anti-gentrification arts business\, specializing in printmaking\, public art\, social practice\, and storytelling. Jenie pulls from personal and professional experiences as a second generation Taiwanese-Chinese American\, woman of color\, and descendant of working class immigrants. \nThroughout the fall and spring semesters\, the Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series welcomes a diverse group of nationally and internationally recognized artists working across traditional\, hybrid and emergent disciplines. In 2015 he was awarded a Rauschenberg Foundation “Artist As Activist” Fellowship as a member of People’s Climate Arts. He is a co-collaborator of the Climate Clock that counts down the critical time window to reach zero emissions. \nThroughout the fall and spring semesters\, the Artists Now! The exhibit crosses boundaries of language\, culture and time\, and embodies a variety of creative disciplines including painting\, sculpture\, printmaking\, installation and community art.

DESCRIPTION:Dates & Time\nLocation\n\n\n\n\nApril 8\, 10\, 15\, 17 (10 am.–3 p.m.)April 12\, Reception (5–7:30 p.m.)April 20 (12–3 p.m.)\nTheatre Building\, Arts Center Gallery\n\n\n\n\nThe Cross Connections 2024 International Exhibition and Competition of Visual Communication Design and Emerging Media Design is a global event that showcases the creative works of students and faculty from over ten higher education institutions worldwide.  \nThis collaborative exhibition will feature approximately 120 artworks encompassing a wide range of visual art forms\, including print-based visual communication design\, screen-based video and animation\, and user-centered design across both traditional and emerging media. The exhibition aims to transcend borders\, cultures\, concepts\, media\, and disciplines\, offering a captivating fusion of contemporary visual communication designs and emerging trends. An expert panel of judges will evaluate the selected artworks for the international exhibition and competition\, which will then be displayed in institutions worldwide in Spring of 2024.
