SUMMARY:The Fine Arts Quartet 80th Anniversary Series – Complete Mozart String Quintets & Beethoven Early Quartets
DESCRIPTION:Date & TimeThursday\, May 21\, 2026 (7:30–9 p.m.)Pre-talk (6:30 p.m.) \n\n\n\n\n\nLocationMusic Building\, Recital Hall \n\n\n\n\n\nThe quartet will perform an ambitious FREE series in May of twelve masterworks over six concerts\, including on May 21: Beethoven  Beethoven String Quartet No. 2 in G Major — The most charming and witty of the set\, full of courtly elegance and Haydnesque humor\, with a slow movement that pulls off a delightful trick: a playful scherzo suddenly bursts through the middle of a tender operatic aria. AND Mozart String Quintet in D Major\, K. 593 (1790) — The most intellectually rigorous of the six\, leaner and more concentrated than its predecessors. Listen for the stately opening that keeps returning like a philosophical refrain\, and a slow movement that ends with what one reviewer called “a sad smile.” \n\n\n\nProgramGuest Violist\, Hartmut RohdeLudwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) – String Quartet in G Major\, Op. 18\, No. 2Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) – String Quintet in D Major\, KV 593 \n\n\n\nCelebrating 80 Years – Full Festival Lineup\n\n\n\nPre-talks begin one hour prior to each program (except May 19) \n\n\n\nSunday\, May 17 at 3:00 PM – Guest Violist\, Hartmut RohdeUWM Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts\, 2419 E.
