January 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video (roughly) Monthly screening series presents…

Warhol + Tavel / Tavel + Warhol
The Life of Juanita Castro (1965)
Screen Test #2 ( 1965)

Two collaborations between Andy Warhol and Theatre of the Ridiculous playwright Ronald Tavel, who, for both films here, wrote the scenarios and plays the on-screen director.
In The Life of Juanita Castro  (66min., 1965), Tavel coaxes performances for an adaptation of a Life magazine article by Fidel Castro’s sister titled “My Brother Is a Tyrant, and He Must Go.” With filmmaker Marie Menken as Juanita Castro.
In Screen Test #2 (66min., 1965), Tavel taunts drag superstar Mario Montez as they audition for the part of Esmeralda in a would-be production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
