Nearly 90 young violin and viola students of the String Academy of Wisconsin at UWM will perform a free, public concert on Saturday, March 16, 2019 in the UWM Peck School of the Arts Recital Hall, located in the Music Building.  The concert will begin at 10:30am.  A winner of the 2019 Violin Competition, will be a featured soloist on the concert.  The concert performers range in age from four to eighteen, and include beginners as well as advanced students.

The String Academy (Darcy Drexler, Director), now in its twenty-ninth year at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has developed an international reputation for its outstanding work with young string players.  The String Academy’s Urban Students in Arts Outreach Program and its partnerships with central city public schools, providing talented at-risk children with intensive music training, have been met with an outpouring of community support and commendation.

String Academy students come from throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. They regularly win local and regional competitions, and serve as section leaders in their school and community orchestras.
