Tonight’s program offers an exploration of the possibilities of light – ephemeral, dazzling, ravishing. Its flames and explosions, its swirls and glimmer, its interactions with matter and celluloid.

The “From The Archives” series invites MFA Candidates from the UWM Department of Film, Video, Animation, and New Genres to collaborate with the Department’s Archive to curate an evening for Experimental Tuesdays.

Much thanks to Kati Katchever and Britany Gunderson of the UWM Archives for their help in unvaulting and readying the films for this series. And thanks to Isaac Brooks of the Technical staff of the UWM Department of Film, Video, Animation, and New Genres and of the Union Cinema’s Projection Booth for getting these imagery on the screen.

Experimental Tuesdays at the Union Cinema are a free series unspooling on most Tuesdays throughout the semester that shares contemporary and canonical experimental media. Presented by the UWM Union Cinema and the UWM Department of Film, Video, Animation, and New Genres.
