*CANCELED* Chamber Music Milwaukee: Early Meets Modern, Music for Saxophone, Percussion, and More

UWM faculty Nicki Roman and Alex Wier, together as the Romex Duo, will present new works for saxophone and percussion along with arrangements of early music. The program will include newly commissioned pieces from composition faculty William Heinrichs (“Three Bagatelles”) and Phillip Sink (“Buzz Word”). The duo will also be joined by Dr. Tim Sterner-Miller for his arrangements of Baroque music in a modern instrumentation. Also on the program will be Cross//Hatch Percussion, performing new works for percussion trio.

Dr. Nicki Roman is the Assistant Professor of Saxophone at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts. She has been a prize winner at the North American Saxophone Alliance Competition, Music Teacher’s National Association Young Artist Solo Competition, William C. Byrd International Competition, and is the first saxophonist to be the recipient of the International Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship. In addition, she is a Fischoff Gold Medal Winner. Nicki is a Conn-Selmer and Vandoren Performing Artist.

Dr. Alex Wier is the Head of the Percussion Area at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is an active educator and performer in a variety of solo and ensemble settings. He has presented clinics and solo recitals around the country in addition to performing with groups like the Milwaukee Symphony, Present Music, and Fifth House Ensemble. He is an artist with Marimba One marimbas and Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.
