Benjamin Verdery is described as “iconoclastic” and “inventive” by the New York Times. He has also been written up as “one of the classical guitar world’s most foremost personalities” by Classical Guitar Magazine. Benjamin Verdery enjoys an innovative and eclectic musical career. As a performer, Verdery has given concerts around the world, with repeated appearances at the International Guitar Festival (Singapore, 2011), the Festival International de Agosto (Caracas), the Schubert Festival (Bad Urach, Germany), the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Opera (NYC) and elsewhere.
Benjamin Verdery is the artistic director of 92nd Street Y’s Art of the Guitar series and was appointed an honorary board member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas in 2007. He has been teaching guitar at the Yale University School of Music since 1985 and is artistic director of the Yale Guitar Extravaganza. Each summer Benjamin holds his Annual International Master Class on the Island of Maui (Hawaii).
