Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series: Tomory Dodge
April 10 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Tomory Dodge is an internationally recognized contemporary painter, much of this early work depicted scenes of wind blown detritus in desert-like settings, often exhibiting surreal or apocalyptic undertones while maintaining a sense of playfulness. His work has long placed an emphasis on materiality and has had a strong interest in the American West as well as human interaction with the environment. While continuing to hold these interests, Dodge’s work began to become more abstract beginning in the period of 2006 – 2008 and has continued to move in this direction. His work has been acquired by many public and private collections and he has been included in several publications on contemporary painting. This talk is sponsored in part by the John Colt Memorial Art Fund.
