Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series: Lucy Derickson
April 3 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
In the studio, Lucy Derickson transforms found pewter serviceware in order to dissect complex human relationships and the objects tangled in that mess. The environmental benefits of using found material is essential to her current studio practice. Lucy is strongly influenced by, and is on the advisory committee for, the non-profit organization Ethical Metalsmiths. In 2014 she collaboratively founded the Ethical Metalsmiths Student Committee (EMSC). She currently serves as EMSCs facilitator, as new chapters across the United States create dialog, curate exhibitions, and collect research related to environmental and human health in the field of jewelry and metalsmithing. Lucy currently teaches at Montgomery College, Maryland.
