Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series: Jason Yi
Jason S. Yi, a 2022 recipient of the Mary L. Nohl Established Artist Fellowship, is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, video, sculpture, drawing, and site-specific installations. Immigrating from South Korea to United States at an early age, his work is conceived through a bi-cultural lens and interrogates the notion of perception’s equivalence to reality. He explores the effect of cultural and societal tendencies on both built spaces and our understanding of the natural landscape. His work has been included in the international biennial exhibition at the Inside-out Art Museum in Beijing, Moran Art Museum in Seoul, Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Milwaukee Art Museum, and the inaugural Sculpture Milwaukee. His other awards include a Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellowship (2016) and a Kamiyama Artist in Residence Fellowship, sponsored by the Japan Foundation.

All 2022-23 lectures will be FREE and offered virtually as pre-recorded events. Series supported in part by the UWM Black and Gold Committee & Differential Tuition funds, Frederick R. Layton Fund, the John Colt Memorial Art Fund, The Queer Curatorial Fund, Center for 21st Century Studies, Print Club, Focus, and OBJECT.
