A Conversation with Filmmaker Kelly Reichardt
April 4, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us April 4th for a conversation with acclaimed American independent filmmaker Kelly Reichardt that will span her career from River of Grass (1994) to Wendy & Lucy (2008), Meek’s Cutoff (2010), Certain Women (2016), and First Cow, currently in post-production. Reichardt’s minimalist observational style presents characters in the midst of personal and physical journeys. Reichardt has said that her characters are “either emotionally stuck or physically stuck wherever they are.” Excerpts of Reichardt’s films will be presented during the conversation moderated by Assistant Professor Lori Felker and Filmmaker Carol Brandt (UWM Film BFA 2014) ~90 min
The event is free and open to the public, so plan to arrive early if you want to guarantee yourself a seat!

The Milwaukee Underground Film Festival (MUFF) is a student-run film festival devoted to showcasing independent, artist driven cinema. Since 2003 we have been programming filmmakers that defy convention in an attempt to amplify unheard voices. Our festival celebrates the potential of cinema to imbue a community with excitement, critical discussion, and open-mindedness through the presentation of new artistic forms.
This year’s festival runs April 25th-28th and the Opening Night Screening will be at the UWM Union Cinema on April 25th at 7pm.
MUFF is a program of the Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres at the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
