Kevin has served on faculty at Augustana College, Quincy University, and Idaho State University, where he prepared the choirs for a concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and a special performance with Kathryn Grayson.
An active member of the American Choral Director’s Association, Chorus America, and the National Association for Music Education, Kevin has served as the Community Choir Repertoire and Standards Chair for AzACDA. He has conducted High School Regional Honor Choirs across the United States and has been an adjudicator and clinician for choir festivals throughout the Midwest and Southwest. He recently conducted the Central and Southwest High School Regional Honor Choirs in Phoenix, and the Western State Colorado University Choral Festival in Colorado.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Kevin began his tenure with the Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale as a tenor in 2007. Since 2014, he has also served the Chorale as Assistant Conductor, assisting Artistic Directors with programming, preparing rehearsals, and conducting selected pieces on concerts. As a tenor in the Chorale, Kevin has appeared on the Chorale’s Grammy-winning recording, Rachmaninoff’s All-night Vigil, and on Northern Lights: Choral works of Ola Gjeilo. Additional highlights with the Chorale include performing at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Incheon Choral Festival in Seoul, South Korea, and singing at the ACDA convention in Seattle.
Kevin received his DMA and MA degrees in Choral Conducting from the University of Iowa under the supervision of William Hatcher, Richard Bloesch, and Timothy Stalter. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in K-12 Vocal Music Education from Central College in Pella, Iowa under the supervision of David Williams, Anne Petrie, and Davis Folkerts. During his graduate studies at the University of Iowa, Dr. Kevin was director of the Old Gold Singers.
