Susan Goulet is the founder and director of the Milwaukee Yoga Center, which opened in October, 2000. She is an Iyengar yoga instructor certified through the Iyengar National Association of the United States at the Senior Intermediate I level. She studies regularly with senior teachers, John Schumacher, Mary Obendorfer and Eddy Marks. In 2007 she studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune, India.
Susan came to yoga as a last resort, trying to find relief from Crohn’s Disease, an incurable inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Almost immediately, she felt a lessening of the nagging back and joint pain, but the debilitating effects of the Crohn’s remained. Finally, after over-hauling her diet and adopting a daily Iyengar yoga practice, she was able to be free of all medication and Crohn’s symptoms. She now teaches yoga full-time, directs the Milwaukee Yoga Center, mentors yoga teachers and teaches yoga classes for the UWM Dance Department. Susan has her BA and MA from UW-Milwaukee.
Because of the profound difference the change in her diet made, Susan also opened Blooming Lotus Bakery in July, 2015. Everything produced in this one-of-a kind bakery is grain-free, vegan, cane sugar-free and whole plant, meaning no added oils.
