Biography

Christopher Flieller (Lecturer) Before embarking on a career in Higher Education, Chris most recently served as Artistic Director of In Tandem Theatre, the Milwaukee-based theatre company he co-founded and ran for twenty-one seasons, closing its doors in 2019.  A member of Actor’s Equity Association, Chris has performed with many professional theatres in the area, including In Tandem Theatre, Skylight Opera Theatre, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Madison Repertory Theatre, Theatre X, First Stage Children's Theatre, the Marcus Center/Milwaukee Repertory, Optimist Theatre, Polaris Puppet Theatre, Playwright’s Studio Theatre, Theatre Tesseract, Next Generation Theatre, Irish Fest, and the Great American Children’s Theatre Company, Utah Shakespearean Festival, Fort Worth Shakespeare, Kansas City Dinner Playhouse, and the University of Delaware’s Resident Ensemble Players. Favorite roles include Stasch Zielinski (in nearly three hundred performances for In Tandem’s smash hit holiday show A Cudahy Caroler Christmas over thirteen seasons), Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Snoopy in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Arles in Greater Tuna, Touchstone in As You Like It, Templeton in Charlotte’s Web, Ellard Sims in The Foreigner, Arnold Wiggins in The Boys Next Door, Charlie in Scrooge In Rouge, and Bellomy in The Fantasticks. Chris's many directing credits with In Tandem Theatre include Wonder of The World, nine years of Shaw Shorts (in collaboration with Milwaukee Chamber Theatre’s Annual Shaw Festival), The Eight: Reindeer MonologuesHoliday HellThe ChosenHomeThe Afghan Women, the world premier of StuckEquus (in a co-presentation with the UWM B.F.A. Acting Program), Old Wicked Songs, the American premier of The Nightmare RoomBurying The Bones, Any Given Monday, and Lamps For My Family. His most recently directed All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 for UW-Oshkosh/Fond du Lac, where he also serves as Lecturer in Theatre.  Chris also has extensive technical theatre experience, having served as Production Liaison for First Stage Theatre, Assistant master Electrician for Skylight Music Theatre, and Technical Director for Theatre X, as well as designing and building many sets for In Tandem. In June, Chris will be travelling to New York City to complete his certification as an Assistant Teacher of the Fitzmaurice Voiceworks System™. Chris is a proud recipient of the 2019 Artist of the Year Award from the Milwaukee Arts Board and the Footlight’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
