David Collins is a Milwaukee-based performer, educator, sound artist and composer. David completed his Jazz Studies at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in 1998, under the instruction of Berkeley Fudge, Mark Davis and Don Linke. Following several years of performing and teaching private lessons, he returned to academics and received his BFA in Composition & Technology in 2009 from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
David is currently employed as the Coordinator of Music Programming and Jazz Ensemble Director for the Milwaukee School of Engineering and as an Associate Artist for the Peck School of the Arts Dance Department.
David’s professional work involves several idioms and interdisciplinary collaborations, using either traditional notation, improvisation, or anything in between. Projects and collaborations include: RedLine Milwaukee, Riverwest Artist Association, Made In Milwaukee, Wild Space Dance Company, Danceworks Inc., American College Dance Festival Association, HyperLocal MKE, Milwaukee Laptop Orchestra, Great Lakes Improvising Orchestra, Bridges of Königsberg, FTAM Productions, Minor Vices, Telembí, Buffalo Quartet, Peck School of the Arts, Seed Sounds and Unrehearsed MKE.
David also has a great passion for cooking Thai food, bicycling as a lifestyle and wilderness backpacking.
