Biography

Ryan Cappleman is a quadruple threat (performer, choreographer, musician, and teaching artist) based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Since graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BFA in Inter-Arts Musical Theater Performance in Fall of 2011, Ryan has gone on to make a full time living doing what he loves. As a performer, favorites include the Scarecrow (The Wizard of Oz), Pooh-Bah (The Hot Mikado), and Woof (Hair) all at Skylight Music Theatre, Alex Mialdo/Music Director for Miracle on 34th Street (Forte Theatre), Britton Hughes (La La Lucille), the piano player (Billy Bishop Goes to War) and Company (TomFoolery) at Third Avenue Playhouse, and Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC. As a choreographer, Ryan has earned 3 Footlights Awards for Outstanding Choreography in a Professional Musical, as well as numerous Jerry Awards for his work with area high schools. Ryan has toured the country with Tallymoore, and performed with kids, teens, community members, professionals, and Grammy award winners. He is an adjunct faculty member at UW Parkside. He’s also taught all over the country including the Milwaukee Ballet, the Minnesota Summer Dance Intensive, the Virginia State Thespian Conference, Skylight, Danceworks, First Stage, and Pink Umbrella. Ryan is the proud dad of a black mouth cur named Dolly.
