Alum Julia Bradfish (BFA 2023, Painting & Drawing) is in her second year as artist-in-residence at Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel, where her abstract works intrigue hotel visitors with eye-catching colors and bold shapes.
In a CBS58 Sunday Morning Spotlight by Kathryn Merck, Bradfish shares how interacting with hotel visitors can make fine art more approachable and walks viewers through her artistic process.
“People come in here to stay at Saint Kate, and they come here to the exhibition spaces, and they don’t really understand that, but they think that it seems cool, and that’s different,” Bradfish said. “And when they come in here, they see me, and we can chat about the exhibitions and chat about my art. It breaks down the narrative in their head about fine art.”
