Abstract<\/strong>:<\/p>\nThe Bronze Age was a period of dramatic change. In Europe, we see the adoption of new technologies, the establishment of transcontinental exchange networks, and the development of more hierarchical social structures. The Carpathian Basin of Southeastern Europe was at the epicenter of these transformations. This lecture presents new research on the rise of Bronze Age societies through the lens of the Maros Culture (Serbia, Hungary, and Romania). Here, fortified tell settlements emerged as centers of craft production and long-distance trade, social and ritual activities, and elite power, fundamentally altering the cultural landscape of the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
