Effective Fall 2025, the African and African Diaspora Studies PhD has suspended admission.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must meet Graduate School Requirements<\/u><\/a> plus the following departmental requirements to be considered for admission to the program:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Undergraduate or graduate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. A sample (10-15) pages of the individual\u2019s written work<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. TOEFL scores from non-native English speakers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. At least three (3) letters of recommendation\u00a0from individuals who are familiar withthe applicant\u2019s academic work\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Please note that the GRE is encouraged, but not required to be considered for admission to the PhD program<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Students must also apply directly to UWM\u2019s Graduate School, and forward the requisite application fee in order to have their materials considered. Prospective applicants should visit the Graduate Schools\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Completed applications must be received by\u00a0December 1st\u00a0to be considered for fall admissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
