The center is about more than resume preparation. The career professionals there can help you identify your professional goals and teach you techniques (like informational interviewing and shadowing) to learn more about professional careers. They can also help you develop your job search strategy, help you locate an internship, or connect you with UWM alumni who may be able to provide you with information or advice in a particular industry or career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-value-of-a-major-in-african-and-african-diaspora-studies\">The Value of a Major in African and African Diaspora Studies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) is relevant to everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexuality, or gender. Students learn to view complex situations from multiple perspectives; synthesize known information and hypothesize about the unknown; apply lessons from the past to problems of the present, and critique current and past practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In doing so, the African and African Diaspora Studies major and minor prepare students for a wide range of careers and equips them with skills desired in many professional arenas: critical thinking, oral and written communication, problem-solving, research, and leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The major also provides students with a foundation for graduate studies in African &amp;
