55 Years of Black Reality at UWM

Please join the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Department on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025 from 3-5 pm in the Ballroom of the UWM Student Union (2200 E. Kenwood Blvd.). 

Our celebration includes a keynote lecture by Dr. Martha Biondi, Lorraine H. Morton Professor of Black Studies and Professor of History at Northwestern University (she will replace our original keynote, Dr. Mary Pattillo, who has experienced a family emergency).Dr. Biondi, author of The Black Revolution on Campus, will help us to explore the history and reality of Black Studies in our current moment and what the future may hold. Following the keynote speech a panel of AADS alumni will speak on their experiences. The Ko-Thi Dance Company will perform at the finish of the program. There will also be research projects on display from current AADS students.
