It helps students feel more comfortable, introduces them to the course and instructor, and fosters a sense of community. Your message should convey that you are accessible, knowledgeable, approachable, and a real person within their UWM network. The sample welcome message below includes a student-friendly and welcoming tone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-p-card--white uwm-u-mb-40\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">\n<p>Hi everyone, I&#8217;m [Instructor Name] and I\u2019m really excited to learn and grow with you this semester. I\u2019ll be actively involved in our class\u2014sharing weekly announcements, joining discussions to help clarify ideas, and offering thoughtful feedback on your major assignments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I notice common themes or questions in our work, I\u2019ll share general insights with the whole class so we can all benefit. You\u2019ll also have the chance to share your thoughts with me through feedback surveys at the middle and end of the course\u2014your voice matters and I do make changes off the feedback you share.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you ever have questions or run into challenges, please reach out early. We will not meet in person; all communication and coursework will take place through Canvas and via your UWM email. It allows for a more personal introduction than text alone, helping students see their instructor as a real person and potentially easing anxiety, especially in online courses.&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Using the Rich Content Editor for short, single-use videos is an easy-to-use option.&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Canvas-Basics-Guide\/How-do-I-record-media-using-the-Rich-Content-Editor\/ta-p\/618235\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How do I record media using the Rich Content Editor?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-using-canvas-announcements\"><strong>Using Canvas Announcements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can create an announcement to share important information with all users within your course and with users in sections of a course.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your course must be published for students to receive announcement notifications. If you import an announcement from another Canvas course, new announcement notifications will not be sent to course users.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notifications are not sent for announcements created before the course has been published.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student app users cannot view announcements on the homepage.
