SUMMARY:Active Teaching Lab - AI in Education
DESCRIPTION:AI in Education: What’s New\, What Matters\, and What’s Next\n\n\n\nDavid Delgado\n\n\n\nAI continues to reshape how we teach\, learn\, and work. But as new tools and capabilities emerge\, it can be difficult to know what deserves our attention\, and what these changes mean for our courses. \n\n\n\nIn this month’s session\, David Delgado will guide us through the evolving AI landscape. Together\, we’ll explore what instructors should be watching\, the questions we should be asking\, and practical ways to make informed\, intentional decisions about AI in our classrooms.Whether you are experimenting with AI\, setting boundaries for its use\, or still deciding where it belongs\, this session will help you approach the semester with greater clarity. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nThis session will be held in-person and virtually via Zoom. Registration is not required but helps us prepare. \n\n\n\nJoin via this Link! \n\n\n\nEngelmann Hall\, RM B732033 E Hartford Ave\,Milwaukee\, WI 53211 \n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitators\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration Form\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n University Email(Required)\n \n Please provide instructions if you require accommodations for this eventUniversity Appointment?\n \n \n Tenured / Tenured-track Faculty\n \n \n \n Non-tenured Faculty\n \n \n \n Staff\n \n \n \n Teaching Assistant\n \n \n \n Student\n \n \n \n Other\n If you selected Other\, please explain.University Department or Business Unit? How did you hear about this event? SUMMARY:AI Club
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\nBring a question. Share what you’re trying. Learn across roles. \n\n\n\nAI questions rarely stay within one department. A new AI tool can raise questions about teaching and learning\, information security\, data governance\, accessibility\, student support\, and university operations — all at the same time. No single role sees the whole picture because expertise is scattered across campus. Bringing varied perspectives and expertise together is why we started AI Club. \n\n\n\nAI Club is a monthly\, informal community of practice where colleagues bring real questions\, experiments\, and work in progress involving AI. A typical session includes one or two brief\, informal shares followed by conversation\, collaborative problem-solving\, and an exchange of practical ideas and resources. \n\n\n\nMeetings are conversations\, not lectures. You do not need prior AI expertise\, a presentation\, or a polished success story. Come to share something you are trying\, ask for help\, offer a perspective from your role\, or simply listen. Instructors\, IT and security staff\, and administrators — all roles and experience levels are welcome. \n\n\n\n\nLearn More About AI Club\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nThis session will be held in Engelmann Hall (ENG)\, Room B73\, and online via Zoom\, please register to receive an email with the link. \n\n\n\nFacilitators\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration Form\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n University Email(Required)\n \n Please provide instructions if you require accommodations for this eventUniversity Appointment?\n \n \n Tenured / Tenured-track Faculty\n \n \n \n Non-tenured Faculty\n \n \n \n Staff\n \n \n \n Teaching Assistant\n \n \n \n Student\n \n \n \n Other\n If you selected Other\, please explain.University Department or Business Unit? How did you hear about this event? SUMMARY:Online Teaching Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\nWhether you’re teaching your first online course\, supporting instruction as a TA\, or have years of experience designing and delivering online learning\, the Online Teaching Community of Practice is a space to connect\, collaborate\, and grow. Open to all instructors and teaching assistants engaged in online teaching\, this monthly community brings together colleagues to discuss real challenges\, exchange ideas\, and discover practical solutions that improve the online teaching learning experience. \n\n\n\nEach session provides opportunities to troubleshoot instructional issues\, explore emerging technologies and teaching resources\, learn evidence-based online teaching strategies\, and examine UWM-specific student success data to identify practices that make a meaningful difference for learners. Participants can share successes\, seek feedback\, and collaboratively address common concerns related to engagement\, assessment\, communication\, accessibility\, and course design. \n\n\n\nThere is no long-term commitment. Join when topics are relevant to your needs\, and participate as often as helpful. Come to learn\, problem solve\, plan\, and leave with actionable ideas you can immediately apply in your online courses and programs. \n\n\n\nEvent Location\n\n\n\nThis event will be held both virtually on Zoom and in-person in Engelmann Hall.
