Chapman (1853-1935) attended Milwaukee Female College and served on Milwaukee-Downer College\u2019s Board of Trustees (these schools were once housed in the red brick buildings that are part of UWM\u2019s campus). During her lifetime, she was a generous supporter of the college. She made a $1 million bequest that enabled the school to build an unrestricted endowment, enhance its art collection, endow faculty positions and erect a library (now known as Chapman Hall). Established in 2001, the Alice G.
