DATE: March 24, 2022

TO: Faculty, Limited Appointees and Academic Staff

FROM: Johannes Britz, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

SUBJECT: Spring 2022 Outside Activities Disclosure

Under the Wisconsin Administrative Code (UWS 8, Unclassified Code of Ethics) as well as federal and University policy, faculty, limited appointees, and academic staff (with half-time appointments or more) are required to disclose outside activities for January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021 by April 30, 2022.

An important reminder: UWM employees must comply with Outside Activity Reporting requirements in order to be eligible for any future salary adjustments, including adjustments via the 2021-2023 State of Wisconsin Pay Plan. It is therefore important that you complete your disclosure in a timely manner.

The criteria for reporting outside activities have not changed from prior years. However, additional information will be collected on foreign activities to ensure compliance with Conflict of Interest (COI) requirements. Faculty and academic staff must complete disclosures even if they have had no outside activities or financial interests in 2021.

To facilitate these disclosures, we will be again utilizing an online system. A separate e-mail will be sent to each of you with a personalized link for you to complete and submit your disclosure. You will receive the e-mail from UWM eWorkflow Process Director with a subject of “Outside Activities Reporting – Action Required” no later than Friday, April 1st.

As in prior years, your department chair and the appropriate dean or director will review your disclosure. These reviews will also be accomplished via the online system.
