July 27, 2020  |  News & Events, Sad News, Timely Announcements

Dear Colleagues,

I share with you sad news from the College of General Studies. Dr. Michael Edward “Mike” Cahill, a former professor of astronomy and physics at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County (now UWM at Washington County), passed away on July 7, 2020.

Mike received his BS from Manhattan College, and MS and PhD in Astronomy from the University of Illinois. He held a post-doctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley. Mike conducted research in General Relativity and, after retirement, he devoted his energy to finding new methods to describe the distribution of the Trojan asteroids.

For additional details, please see Mike’s obituary online. Our condolences to Mike’s family, including his wife Rotraut Cahill, emeritus mathematics professor at UWM at Washington County, and to the many others whose lives he touched.

Take care,

Johannes
