Dear Colleagues,

I share with you sad news of the passing of two members of our UWM community.

Lawrence Grogan

Mathematical Sciences Department Chair Allen Bell shared sad news about the unexpected passing of Lawrence “Larry” Grogan, a long-time Senior Lecturer in Mathematical Sciences at UWM.

Larry passed away on February 26, 2019, after teaching a full day of classes. He was an alumnus of UWM, having received his MS in Mathematics from UWM in 1972. He started his career at UWM as a part-time lecturer around 1975 and became a full-time lecturer around 2005. He had been a full-time employee at the software company Weber Systems, until his retirement from the company.

Currently, there are no known plans for funeral or memorial services.  Our condolences to Larry’s family and to the many others whose lives he touched.

Nathan Miller

History Department Chair Joseph Rodriguez shared the sad news that Nathan Miller, UWM Professor Emeritus of History, passed away on January 5, 2019, at the age of 101. Nathan earned a master’s degree in 1947 and a PhD in 1960, from Columbia University. From 1960 to 1987, he taught at UWM as a professor in the Department of History.
