Dear Colleagues,

I share with you sad news from Derek Nazareth in the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business.  Dr. William David Haseman, Professor Emeritus in the Lubar School of Business at UW-Milwaukee, passed away on December 2, 2019.

Dr. Haseman was an alumnus of the full-time MBA program at UW-Milwaukee, and earned a PhD in Management Information Systems at Purdue University. He taught at Carnegie Mellon University before returning to UWM and joining the faculty in 1980 to lead the new PhD program in Management Information Systems.

Dr. Haseman taught at UWM for 34 years until his retirement in 2014. During that time, he was named a Wisconsin Distinguished Professor and IBM Professor of Information Technology Management.  He was a dedicated and versatile teacher, teaching 18 different courses at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels at UWM, and receiving an award for outstanding teaching in 1986. He was also the founding Director for the Center for Technology Innovation, serving for 14 years.  Dr. Hasemen authored several technology books. His research spanned a varied range of topics and appeared in many different journals.

Dr. Haseman’s obituary is online, and funeral services were held last weekend.  Our condolences to Dave’s family and to the many others whose lives he touched.

Take care,
