Dear Colleagues,

I share with you sad news from Dean Kaushal Chari in the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business.  Dr. Russell Fenske, Professor Emeritus in the Lubar School of Business at UW-Milwaukee, passed away on December 29, 2019.

Dr. Fenske received his MBA in Finance and PhD in Statistics at Northwestern University.  He began his tenure at UWM in 1958 as an Assistant Professor in the Commerce Division, predating the creation of the School of Business Administration eight years later. He retired in 1995.

Within the business school, Dr. Fenske served as a faculty member in management science and business statistics, and also held the positions of Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, Executive Director of Management and Masters Programs, and Acting Director of the International Business Center and Center for Business Competitiveness. He also served at the campus level as an Assistant and Associate Vice Chancellor, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, and Acting Dean of the Graduate School.  In retirement, Dr. Fenske authored “A History of the UWM School of Business Administration, the UWM Commerce Division, and Predecessors (1910-1997)”.

Dr. Fenske’s obituary is online. Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 11313 N. Riverland Road, in Mequon, Wisconsin. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service at 1 p.m.
