Dear Colleagues,

I share with you sad news from the Department of History. Dr. David Healy, Professor Emeritus of History, passed away on April 28, 2019, at the age of 92.

Dr. Healy earned a BA, MA, and PhD in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined the UWM History Department in 1966, remaining at UWM after his retirement in 1993 to teach part-time until 1998. Dr. Healy specialized in U.S. Diplomatic and Foreign Policy history and was the author of five books about historical aspects of U.S. foreign relations. He and his wife, Ann, who also taught in the UWM History Department for many years, retired to live in Colorado where they were avid skiers.

Dr. Healy’s obituary is online. A celebration of his life will be held on July 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Avogadro’s Number in Fort Collins, Colorado.
