Mark Harris

As Vice Provost, Dr. Harris supports the Provost by leading the Office of Research, overseeing campus-level research centers, and working on research planning and development. He works in collaboration with other members of the Provost’s staff, schools and colleges, and other campus units to advance the campus research agenda.

Dr. Harris is a Professor of Geosciences in the College of Letters and Science. His research interests are carbonate sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy. He previously served as Department Chair, Associate Dean for the Natural Sciences in L&S, Associate Dean for Research in the Graduate School, and Acting Dean of the School of Freshwater Sciences. Mark also serves as Interim Dean for the School of Information Studies and for the School of Freshwater Sciences.
