Good morning, colleagues and happy New Year! Here is this week’s update from Academic Affairs.

Kudos

Ginny Stoffel (Occupational Science and Technology) has been selected to receive the 2020 Occupational Therapy Award of Merit from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). This is the highest honor given by the AOTA and recognizes an occupational therapist who has demonstrated extensive leadership through sustained and significant contributions to the profession. Congratulations, Ginny!

Milwaukee Athletics

Catch up on all the exciting things happening in Milwaukee Athletics by reading the latest issue of The Roar Report. This issue contains updates on each in-season Panther sports program as well as a feature story on women’s basketball senior Alyssa Fischer.

UWM Sports Psychologist Barbara Meyer and MKE Senior Associate Director of Athletics Kathy Litzau were both part of a feature done by Delaney Brey of TMJ4 in Milwaukee in December.

The Week

Monday

I start the week by meeting with an international group, followed by my standing meeting with Robin Van Harpen, a budget meeting with Paul Klajbor, Drew Knab, and Cindy Kluge, a meeting on enrollment management, the Chancellor’s Executive Cabinet Deep Dive meeting, my weekly staff meeting, and the IT Advisory Council meeting.

Tuesday

In the morning, I have a Design Solutions Center (DeSC) Core Team meeting, a meeting with School of Education leadership, and my monthly meeting with Nancy Nelson. In the afternoon, I have my weekly meeting with the Chancellor.

Wednesday

Today, I have my monthly meeting with Brett Peters, a Graduate Assistantships and Chancellor Fellowships meeting with Mark Harris and Marija Gajdardziska-Josifovska, my one-on-one with Nancy Frank, my standing meeting with Joan Prince, and a visit to Cristo Rey High School.

Thursday

In the morning, I have the Academic Planning and Budget Committee meeting, my bi-weekly meeting with Tom Luljak, and my monthly meeting with Kaushal Chari. In the afternoon, I’ll provide remarks at the UWM Teaching and Learning Symposium, I have a Campus Space Planning meeting, and my one-on-one with Leigh Wallace.

Friday – Saturday

I will attend to administrative tasks in the morning and will leave in the afternoon to attend a conference.

The Director’s Cut: Mark Settle

In collaboration with the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center, the Executive MBA (EMBA) program is hosting a fireside chat with Mark Settle, seven-time CIO from Silicon Valley and a New York Times bestselling author.  This event is the first in a series known as “The Director’s Cut,” and takes place on Friday, January 24 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center Atrium.

DNC 2020 Info Session
Join Tony Snell, from the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee, and representatives from University Relations, and the Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership and Research to learn how you can be involved in various volunteer opportunities leading up to and during the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.
